Heyyy you 😊,
How' you doing?
Because I promised to write to you every Sunday, here I am... Showing up.
So yesterday had Nigerians all over social media excited from their stomach for the coronation of the 21st Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.
Honestly, I did not understand the excitement. Coronations and other traditional events happen in Nigeria all the time and apart from the host community and neighbouring towns, no one else cares enough to share in the excitement.
For example, today is New Yam Festival in my village, Anam.
I'm certain that now that you have this information, it has not made you any more excited than you were 20 seconds ago.
Anyway, moving on...
I went through Twitter and people had lots of things to say about Ogiame Atuwatse III : “the new Olu is so handsome”, “he is a Christian and he acknowledges God in everything he does”, “a king that is well educated, soft-spoken and loved by his people.”
You see that last comment about how the king speaks? Yessssssssssss.
I listened to his interview with BBC and all I can say is Omo!!!!!
In the interview, he was asked how he felt when it was obvious that it was his turn to ascend the throne, he said “it was a cocktail of emotions”.
Supu!!!!
If I don't add cocktail of emotions to everything I say from now on, let me know what caused it...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You hear him speak and you want to buy what he's selling.
Articulate ✅
Soft-spoken ✅
Knowledgeable ✅
Confident ✅
Let's just say that from now, I'll actively scout for speeches and interviews of him just to bask in the euphoria of his excellence. I'll also love to read something he's written. If there's any, please send me a document.
I'm almost done with this letter and I remember that I've not said a word about my podcast. #Oluofwarri effect 😭
Last week's episode was amazing, one of my favourites. The stats, compared to other recent episodes, were quite higher meaning that you guys loved it too.
My guest Shedrack, I used to say that he is me in male form. I see myself a lot in him— personality and all— and recording that episode was so much fun. We talked about his childhood, dating as a teenager and his journey to self-discovery. Listen here if you haven't
Please send me feedback on your thoughts on some of the topics that we discussed in the episode.
I think this is a good place to end this letter. It was a cocktail of emotions writing to you today. 🤗🤗
I'll talk to you later, Bye 👋
