Fear and Reason

I'm finally doing this newsletter thingy and I cannot believe it. Honestly, I'm terrified.
Yes, I want to connect deeper with my people–lovers of Toby and listeners of My name is Toby Podcast–through writing but...
I do not consider myself an excellent writer
Then, there's the thing with laziness. I'm a very lazy person and by extension, a lazy writer.
Did I mention that I have a very slow-paced work rate and I fail terribly at multitasking, yet I multitask all the time? The outcome of these traits may be not being consistent with this newsletter.
Why am I even telling you guys all these in my very first newsletter? Maybe I'm indirectly giving excuses for not putting out quality content and doing an excellent job with this newsletter, maybe I'm facing my fears by calling them out and hoping I will no longer be as afraid afterwards.
Before I do anything, I ask myself WHY? before figuring out how, where or when, I need to have a good reason, purpose if you may, for venturing into whatever thing.
When I called Mr. Chibuzo, Kelle, Daniel, Augustine, Chinenye, Gideon, CJ, Ifeanyi together with an idea of what will later become Nascent Community, we knew that our educational system is deeply faulted but one fault bothered us more: people needed to learn to know (not just to pass exams and get good grades), think for themselves and be open-minded towards other people's thoughts too. We were determined, as much as we could, to make this change to learning approach happen.
I started my podcast because I wanted to create a space where I can tell personal stories, share thoughts, opinions and be myself unapologetically. By doing this, I may have also helped people find the courage to be expressive.
I love my space but I also love reaching out to people, helping them and recently, receiving help too. I love that in one way or the other, we are interconnected. I love that my friends are comfortable enough to share their stories with me on my podcast. I love that the ones that are fellow podcasters invite me to their podcasts to share my stories. I love that they love the sound of my voice and refer me for voiceover jobs. I love that through this journey I've made authentic friends.
I am also aware that not everyone prefers podcasts/audio content and not everyone has the luxury of time to listen to 20+ minutes of audio. And it's for this reason I decided to write letters in addition to speaking through podcasts. This is a different, newish old school, more heartfelt way of connecting with my people. I hope to have more interactions with you via this medium. You could reply to this directly from your email or write a comment under this post on Substack. Also, share with your friends and family, I'll love to connect with them too.
The more the merrier...
And Oh, before I forget... Happy New Month!
From Toby, With Love ❤️
Nice write up
Hope to see more from you.. rooting for you
Looking forward to more content. Keep shinning!
